1904 Block Shiraz
Wine
Baileys of Glenrowan 1904 Block Shiraz was originally planted by Varley Bailey (son of founder Richard Bailey) in the 1860s. It is one of the oldest vineyards in north-east Victoria.
In the early 1900s it was replanted after the phylloxera outbreak that devastated the Victorian wine industry. A gnarled, dry grown site of deeply rooted vines, the vineyard produces grapes of rare flavour and intensity.
The wine is made using traditional methods and equipment. The fruit is open fermented and pressed in a century old basket press. Maturation takes place in new and one year old French oak puncheons for 15 months.
Deep purple, Baileys of Glenrowan 1904 Block Shiraz is plush with ripe blue and black fruit aromas, super fine tannins and complex, earthy flavours.
Made only in the best vintages. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
